Crosley was an American small-car marque created by industrialist Powel Crosley Jr., better known for radios and consumer products. Automobile production began in 1939 with tiny, inexpensive cars aimed at economical transportation. After the Second World War, Crosley returned with compact sedans, wagons, utility vehicles and the Hotshot sports car. Its small overhead-cam engine also developed a reputation beyond passenger cars. Despite innovative ideas and low operating costs, Crosley struggled against larger postwar automobiles and ended car production in 1952.
