American postwar automobile marque created by industrialist Henry J. Kaiser through Kaiser-Frazer Corporation. Kaiser entered a market hungry for new cars after wartime production restrictions and initially achieved strong sales with modern full-size sedans. Models later included the compact Henry J and distinctive Manhattan. Passenger-car production in the United States declined during the 1950s as the company shifted its automotive focus toward Jeep through Willys.
