Italian performance and luxury marque established by the Maserati brothers in Bologna. Its first car carrying the Maserati name, the Tipo 26, appeared in 1926 and competed in motorsport. Maserati later moved from primarily racing machinery into grand tourers, sports cars and luxury sedans. Ownership changed repeatedly through Citroën, De Tomaso, Fiat and later corporate reorganizations; today Maserati is part of Stellantis.
