American marque founded by Ransom E. Olds and one of the oldest names in mass-produced automobiles. Oldsmobile became part of General Motors in 1908 and often served as a technical proving ground within GM, introducing influential technologies and powertrains across the twentieth century. Models such as the Rocket 88, Cutlass and Toronado became landmarks. General Motors ended Oldsmobile production in 2004.
