Japanese manufacturer whose origins were in textile looms before diversification into motorcycles and automobiles. Suzuki’s first production passenger car, the Suzulight, appeared in 1955 and demonstrated an early focus on compact, lightweight transportation. The marque became a major producer of kei cars, small SUVs and motorcycles, with especially strong automotive positions in Japan and India.
