British marque that grew from bicycles and motorcycles into automobile production during the 1920s. Triumph became especially known after the Second World War for accessible sports cars such as the TR series, Spitfire and GT6, while also producing sedans including the Dolomite. Corporate consolidation placed the marque within British Leyland, and automobile production under the Triumph name ended in the 1980s.
