Apollo Automobil is a German low-volume performance marque descended from the company originally known as Gumpert. Engineer Roland Gumpert established the earlier operation around the extreme Apollo supercar, emphasizing aerodynamic performance and track capability. After the original company encountered financial trouble, new ownership revived the operation under the Apollo name. The later Intensa Emozione pushed the marque further toward limited-production, highly theatrical hypercars. Apollo occupies a very different market from mass manufacturers, with tiny production volumes and an international collector clientele.
