Market Notes
Romanian and Eastern European core with unusually broad exports, including Western Europe and Latin America.

ARO was a Romanian manufacturer specializing in rugged four-wheel-drive vehicles. Production developed from the IMS series in the 1950s and evolved into the better-known ARO 24 and compact ARO 10 families. The vehicles were comparatively simple and adaptable, which helped them reach export markets well beyond Romania, sometimes under different local names or through licensed assembly. Financial difficulties and the upheaval surrounding post-communist privatization eventually brought production to an end in the 2000s. ARO remains an important Eastern European utility-vehicle marque.
