Auburn was an American automobile marque based in Indiana and best remembered for stylish, comparatively high-performance cars of the 1920s and 1930s. Under entrepreneur E. L. Cord, Auburn became part of a group that also controlled Cord and Duesenberg. Models such as the Speedster combined dramatic styling with strong performance at prices below the era’s most exclusive luxury cars. Despite memorable products, the company was unable to survive the economic pressures of the Great Depression, and automobile production ended in 1936.
