Bitter is a German specialty marque founded by former racing driver Erich Bitter. Beginning with the CD in the 1970s, Bitter’s approach was to combine dependable high-volume German mechanical components—often sourced from Opel—with more exclusive grand-touring bodywork and interiors. The later SC continued the formula, giving buyers an exotic-looking alternative that could still rely on established serviceable running gear. Production has always been limited and intermittent, but the Bitter name has periodically returned on heavily reworked vehicles based on mainstream German platforms.
