Bricklin was a Canadian-built sports-car marque created by American entrepreneur Malcolm Bricklin. Its only production model, the SV-1, was assembled in New Brunswick from 1974 to 1975 and marketed around safety, dramatic gull-wing doors and colored acrylic-over-fiberglass body panels. Early cars used AMC V8 power before production switched to Ford engines. Nearly three thousand were completed before the heavily government-supported venture entered receivership. The SV-1’s unusual construction and brief production run have made Bricklin a distinctive part of both Canadian manufacturing and 1970s American sports-car culture.
