Market Notes
Primarily UK luxury clientele with small numbers sold internationally.

Bristol Cars grew from the Bristol Aeroplane Company’s postwar move into automobile production. Early Bristols drew heavily on prewar BMW engineering acquired through postwar arrangements, but the company gradually developed its own highly individual grand tourers. Production remained deliberately small, and Bristol became known for conservative styling, aircraft-influenced engineering details and an unusually private approach to customers and publicity. Later cars adopted large Chrysler V8 engines. The company entered liquidation in 2020 after decades as one of Britain’s most idiosyncratic low-volume luxury manufacturers.
