Walter P. Chrysler introduced the Chrysler marque in 1925 after reorganizing the Maxwell Motor Company. Early cars emphasized engineering and value, and the company rapidly grew into one of Detroit’s major manufacturers. Chrysler later became both a corporate umbrella and a specific automobile marque, producing vehicles ranging from affordable family cars to luxury sedans, minivans and performance-oriented models. Through mergers and restructurings involving Daimler, Fiat and ultimately Stellantis, the corporate context changed dramatically, but Chrysler remains an American-market vehicle badge with a century of history.
