Production began in 1968 with the rear-engined Dacia 1100, followed by the Renault 12-derived 1300, which became a defining Romanian automobile. Renault acquired Dacia in 1999 and repositioned it internationally around simple, durable, value-focused cars such as the Logan, Sandero and Duster.
