Japanese marque descended from the DAT automobile lineage. A small car initially called Datson appeared in 1930, with the name changed to Datsun in 1932. Under Nissan, Datsun became a major export identity and produced vehicles ranging from economical sedans to the celebrated 240Z sports car. Nissan phased out the Datsun name in the 1980s, revived it for selected emerging markets in 2013, and later discontinued the revived program.
