American four-wheel-drive marque whose lineage begins with the military vehicles developed for the United States during the Second World War. Willys-Overland introduced the civilian CJ-2A in 1945, establishing the Jeep identity in the consumer market. Subsequent Wagoneer, Cherokee, CJ and Wrangler families expanded the concept from utilitarian 4×4 to recreational and luxury SUVs. Jeep passed through several corporate owners and is now part of Stellantis.
