American General Motors marque introduced in 1927 as a companion make to Cadillac. LaSalle was positioned below Cadillac while sharing its emphasis on style and prestige, and its early cars were closely associated with designer Harley Earl’s growing influence at General Motors. The marque helped bridge GM’s price ladder between Buick and Cadillac but was discontinued after the 1940 model year.
