British performance marque rooted in Bruce McLaren’s racing organization. The McLaren F1 entered production in the 1990s as an uncompromising road car built around a carbon-fiber monocoque, central driving position and BMW V12. A modern road-car company emerged with the MP4-12C and subsequently developed multiple supercar families. McLaren Automotive remains closely associated with, but organizationally distinct from, the marque’s Formula One heritage.
