Japanese automotive marque whose first series-production passenger car, the Model A, appeared in 1917. Modern Mitsubishi Motors emerged from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and developed a broad international range of passenger cars, pickups and SUVs. Vehicles such as the Pajero, Lancer Evolution, Eclipse and Delica established distinct enthusiast followings. Mitsubishi Motors later joined the Renault-Nissan alliance structure while retaining its own marque identity.
