Swedish automobile marque created from aircraft manufacturer Saab’s postwar diversification. Its early cars applied aerodynamic thinking and unconventional engineering, while later models such as the 99, 900 and 9000 developed a distinctive identity around turbocharging, safety and practical packaging. Ownership changes and financial collapse ultimately ended Saab-branded vehicle production in the 2010s.
